Dr. Karl-Heinzn Ernst pursued his graduate Study at the Inst. f. Physical Chemistry, Freie Universität Berlin and at the Berlin Electron Storage Ring for Synchrotron Radiation (BESSY) and obtained his PhD degree in 1990. He undertook a post-doctoral research at the University of Washington, USA from 1990-1991. In 1992, he was a visiting scientist at the Freie Universität Berlin. Since 1992, he was a Senior Scientist at Empa – Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research, Dübendorf, Switzerland, since 1998 head of Surface Technology Group, (now Molecular Surface Science Group). In 2010, he became a Titularprofessor at Department of Chemistry, University Zürich.  His research interests cover the many areas of Molecular Surface Science (MSS).
