Brief biography of the speaker:

Greg Monteith is a Professor in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Queensland. He completed his Pharmacy degree and PhD at the University of Sydney. His research team seeks to identify and characterise novel therapeutic targets for the treatment of cancer. A particular focus of his research group is the identification of calcium channels and pumps that may be drug targets for breast cancer subtypes for which there are few effective therapies and the prognosis is still poor. His group’s work is published in leading scientific journals including Cell, Nature Reviews Cancer, Oncogene, Journal of Biology Chemistry and Trends in Pharmacological Sciences. His laboratory is currently supported by the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia and the USA Department of Defense. He has received over $9M in funding for his research.
