Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today by Mr. Stutzmann, Principal of BBS Wirtschaft I Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Prof Jay Siegel Dean of the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (SPST) and School of Life Sciences (SLS) at Tianjin University, China. The agreement builds on the growing collaboration in recent years and signifies the joint collaboration in student and staff exchanges. .The student exchange program enables Chinese and German students to undertake an internship abroad and learn about the different professional careers and education systems well as the language and culture. This is the third year that Tianjin University has hosted a group of German students fromBBS Wirtschaft I Ludwigshafen.as part of the internationalization strategies.

The three students from Germany currently undertaking an internship with SPST and SLS are Elieser Mario Sauer, 18 years old, from the Commercial High School, and Irina Lakmann, 19 years old and Lara Neff, 22 years old from the Vocational School of Economy 1 ofBBS Wirtschaft I Ludwigshafen. Elieser plans to complete his A-levels in May 2018, and Irina and Lara are in training as management assistants in the real estate industry. Both Irina and Lara undertake a combination of theoretical courses in the school and at the same time are gaining practical skills whilst working in a real estate company.

Tianjin University founded in 1895 as Peiyang University, is the oldest institution of higher education in the modern history of China. SPST and SLS provide a diverse range of programs including the Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pharmacy, Master of Science (MS) in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Microbial & Biochemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, Natural Products & Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Pharmaceutical Administration. The platform also provides the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Applied Chemistry and Public Health & Pharmaceutical Administration that is jointly managed by SPST with the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, and the School of Business Administration (TU), In addition, they offer postdoctoral positions in cutting-edge research in both basic and applied sciences, and is home to faculty from 12 countries.
