On the morning of June 6, 2019, the "ACS on Campus" jointly organized by the School of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology (SPST) and the American Chemical Society (ACS) was successfully held in B203, No.26 Teaching Building. Eiichi Nakamura, Asscociate editor of Journal of the American Chemical Society, Ke Ding, Asscociate editor of Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, and Professor Jay Siegel, Dean of SPST, Tianjin University attended the event. More than 200 students from 12 universities at home and abroad attended, including the National University of Singapore and the Shanghai Institute of Pharmaceutical Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The event was chaired by Dr. Zheng Chunxiao, Director of Strategic and Scientific Development of ACS China. Professor Eiichi Nakamura and Professor Ke Ding made academic reports in the fields of chemistry and medicine respectively, and shared their research achievements and insights into their research careers. The two editors shared their experiences on how to become better authors, reviewers and correspondents. During the free questioning session, the students actively exchanged and discussed with ACS editors. Prof. Jay Siegel, Dean of SPST, introduced the development of ACS Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(Jingjinji) Chapter and the Student Chapter. Since its establishment in December 2016, Jingjinji Chapter has hosted conferences and activities such as "Chemistry Festival", "Nobel Prize Campus Tour", "ACS Jingjinji Exchange", "Meet American Chemical Society". It has been widely praised by teachers, students and all walks of life. It has won the Global Contribution Award from the ACS twice successively. Subsequently Mr. Jinhai Kuang, the Account Consultant of Chemical Abstract Service introduced how to use SciFinder tools to carry out research work. Ms. Sissi Zhang, Senior Human Resources Manager from Bono Technologies, shared the career development experience with students.
As one of the key outreach projects of the American Chemical Society, the ACS on Campus has been launched in hundreds of universities around the world since 2010, aiming at helping students, postdoctoral students and teachers develop their careers.
