The opening ceremony was held in Room 103 of the Building 26 at 9:00 a.m., Oct. 27th. Prof. Qi Wei, Director of Graduate School Development Office, Prof. Ma Youguang and Prof. Huang Yanshun, supervisory experts of Graduate School Development Office, Prof. Jay Siegel, dean of SPST, Ms. Cuiling Feng, secretary of the Party Committee of SPST, and some professors of SPST attended the opening ceremony, which fully reflected the great importance of the university and the school to this academic forum. First of all, Jay Siegel, dean of SPST, announced the official opening of the forum and delivered the opening speech. After that, Prof. Qi Wei, delivered a speech, she pointed out that the National Conference on graduate Education has pointed the direction and provided the guidance for the development of graduate education in the new era in our country. Tianjin University also held the fourth work Conference on Graduate Education, it implemented the spirit of the National Conference on graduate education, and formed and issued the "Action Plan for first-class graduate Education of Tianjin University". There is a clear plan on how to promote teaching reform. She also suggested that on the occasion when countries around the world are battling COVID-19, the doctoral forum is of significance in training the young talents in public health science capable with solid professional skills, rigorous scientific literacy. In the end, she wished the 12th Doctoral Forum of SPST a complete success.
In the opening ceremony of this forum, we were honored to have Prof. Fang Hao from Shandong University and Prof. Hu Qingzhong from Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine as our featured speaker, who presented fascinating academic lectures on subjects of “Discovery of Isoform HDAC Inhibition” and “Selective Inhibitors of Steroidogenic CYP Enzymes as Promising Treatments for Hormone Dependent Diseases”, which promoted the academic communication and broadened students’ horizons.
Affected by the epidemic prevention and control situation, some professors and international students of SPST who are abroad were unable to watch the opening ceremony in person. The opening session was simulcast live, to enable pharmaceutical people of SPST from all over the world can watch the forum for the first time.
At 13:30 on Oct. 27th, the enterprise-students communication buffet was held on the 2nd floor of Building 24, which provided a good platform for communication between enterprises and students. Representatives from Yuanda Jiyue were invited to introduce the company and products to the students, and actively interacted with students.
On the afternoon of the 27th and the morning of the 28th, doctoral students in the fields of medicinal chemistry, pharmacy, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical analysis, molecular and cellular pharmacology and health and pharmaceutical management gave academic special reports in three branch venues according to their directions. Every doctoral student gave a complete display of the research content and work progress in the form of an oral report in English, followed by receiving suggestions and guidance from experts and professors
The Master’s Student Poster Presentations started at 14:00 p.m. at the 2nd floor, Building 24. Each student stood next to their own poster and showed the judges their research progress and academic achievements. The students benefited from the judges sharing their research ideas with each student and offering guidance.
The closing address was conducted in Room 205, Building 24 at 16:00 p.m. on Oct.28th. Prof. Fumihiko Nakamura presented the Doctoral Forum Rising Star Award to the doctoral students who performed well in their presentations, and Mr. Liu from Yuanda Jiyue presented the Outstanding Poster Presentation Award to the master students. Dean Jay Siegel gave a closing speech, he said, I am happy to see the outstanding performance of the graduate students who participated in this forum. I hope that other students will follow the example of the award winners and keep up the good work. I look forward to see you next year on this platform with more creative scholarship.Then drew ten lucky prizes and distributed gifts to the students.
During the two days, the doctoral students, with their innovative and pioneering thinking and attitude of keeping on improving, fully demonstrated the elegance of SPST and broadened the research ideas for other students. May all the students follow the good examples and keep up for great glory.
